Fiction or Non-fiction books, which are better?
Hello readers! Do you get perplexed while choosing a book to read?
Is your mind boggling between fiction and nonfiction? Fiction is interesting and fun reading yet unreal whereas nonfiction is based on facts but not a good source of entertainment.
People are often heard saying that fiction and fantasy books don’t count for anything. Being a fiction reader, do you feel sad about it? There is no relation between fiction and education. Does this statement hold? No, this is a far-fetched statement. A fictitious story is believed to possess a higher educational value as compared to a non-fiction story.
Let us draw a comparison between fiction and nonfiction books to have a clear picture.
Talking about the content, fiction, usually in the form of a novel, parable, short story and poetry, is the outcome of a highly imaginative mind. It is all about fantasizing about things and keeps a high focus on human elements. Fiction stories can be mysteries, fairytales, historical dramas, etc based on unreal events or characters. Fiction stories are capable of holding the readers’ interest from the first sentence till the end.
Non-fiction deals with real-life incidents and events. Documentaries, biographies, and memoirs are some examples of nonfiction works. Nonfiction helps children develop critical thinking, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to read and understand complex texts. Young kids of this era are seen very much inquisitive to know the how and the why behind what they read. Nonfiction books are meant for them.
Undeniably, all books feed humans with knowledge and experiences. Both fiction and nonfiction have ins and outs. A fictional story doesn’t have to be 100% based on imagination nor does every piece of nonfiction have to be dry and unimaginative.
Now that you have a clear idea of what fiction and nonfiction are about. Choose a book and give it a good read.
